  • Taxpayers with investment or retirement account income
  • People with a side income alongside their regular job

What the service includes

What we work on together.

  • Preparation of your federal individual income tax return
  • Review of income documents: W-2s, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, and similar forms
  • Evaluation of deductions and credits where they may apply to your facts
  • Dependent, education, and childcare-related tax items where eligible
  • E-filing and confirmation that your return was accepted
  • Answers to your questions about the return, in plain English

Common problems

What this helps address.

Situations clients bring to us most often.

  • Life changes — a new job, marriage, a new baby, a home purchase — that raise filing questions
  • Multiple income sources and uncertainty about which documents matter
  • Not knowing whether a deduction or credit applies to your situation
  • A prior year that was never filed or a return that may need correcting
  • Wanting a preparer who explains the return rather than rushing it

What clients may need to provide

Every situation is different, and we will confirm the exact list for yours. In general:

  • Photo ID and Social Security or ITIN numbers for you, your spouse, and dependents (shared securely, not through the website form)
  • Prior-year federal (and state, if applicable) tax return
  • All income documents received for the year (W-2s, 1099s, and similar)
  • Records of deductible expenses, education costs, or childcare payments
  • Health insurance coverage information (Forms 1095-A/B/C, if received)
  • Bank account and routing number for direct deposit or direct debit

Please do not send Social Security numbers, full tax returns, or bank details through the website form. We will tell you how to share documents securely once your request is received.

Service FAQs

Questions clients ask.

Do you only prepare simple returns?
No. We prepare a range of individual situations, from a single W-2 to households with investments, self-employment income, and dependents. The scope is confirmed with you before work starts, and pricing reflects the work involved.
Can I file if I am missing a form?
Usually, yes. Some documents can be retrieved or reconstructed from payroll records and account statements. We will identify what is missing and what alternatives the IRS allows before deciding how to proceed.
What if I also have 1099 income?
That is common. Side income is generally reported on Schedule C as part of your individual return, and it changes the self-employment tax picture. See our 1099 and self-employed page for how we handle it.
